In the book of Esther we read Mordecai’s challenge to Esther with the words, “And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” The phrase “for such a time as this” has commonly been used by the church to describe a significant and meaningful moment in God’s redemptive timeline. Mordecai’s words were intimately connected to the fact that God had appointed Esther to a particular role, at a particular time, for a particular task, for the people of God.
On March 23, Edmund Chan, Os Guinness, and Ravi Zacharias spoke powerfully from the newly-launched Zacharias Institute at an event titled, “For Such A Time As This.” This symposium was the first live-streamed event held at the new Zacharias Institute and a landmark moment for RZIM as we officially dedicated the Global Headquarters of RZIM and the Zacharias Institute over a two-day celebration on March 23-24.
Before the symposium on the 23rd, Jill Carattini introduced Still Point, our art gallery, and artist and author Bruce Herman gave the keynote address. We are very excited to have a resource like Still Point as an integral part of the programs we run at the Zacharias Institute as well as a place where artists from around the world can display their artwork.
Then, on the 24th, we had an interactive open house where the various lecture and seminar rooms at the Zacharias Institute were put to use with members of our global speaking team, who gave regional updates, participated in Q&As, and led discussions on the questions most relevant to today’s world. Many members from our speaking team engaged in this event; the dedication attendees were able to meet and hear from some whom they had not known prior to the dedication. Those attending said they left inspired and encouraged, especially when they learned about all of the relevant events we will be running at the Zacharias Institute in the year to come.
One guest expressed a deep appreciation to God for positioning RZIM in an influential place to respond to the challenges of our times. Tears filled her eyes as she spoke about her concern for young people leaving the faith and for the deep need to help the younger generation become more firmly rooted in their beliefs to sustain them through the most tumultuous years of their lives. This same woman became very encouraged to learn about RZIM’s three-tiered youth initiative aimed at reaching youth and young adults from 13 to 24 years old with teaching that will not just help them survive these challenging times but to thrive as bold witnesses for Christ.
We invite you to join us and pray for us as we embark on this memorable year at the Zacharias Institute.
