Deep Loss, Heavy Hearts: The Passing of Nabeel Qureshi
Posted by Ravi Zacharias, on September 17, 2017
Many of you have already heard of the passing of Nabeel Qureshi from his earthly sojourn into the arms of his Savior. He took his last breath just past midday on Saturday, September 16th. I had just left Manila for my next stop, so it was past the midnight hour for me. I did not get the news ‘til I was on the ground several hours later.
Our loss is deep and our hearts heavy. Yes, we dreaded this moment, but it is here. Our Lord understands. Even He wept over Lazarus, knowing all along that He would raise him. The pain of death is real. Even short farewells are painful. I have a flood of memories. I have posted an obituary on certain publications, at their request. It is amazing that a life so brief had an impact so big. That is rare and is a tribute to an amazing man. I will miss his voice on the phone saying, “Hello, uncle.” I will miss his memorable smile. Most importantly, I will miss watching him preach with an anointing that was rare. I will write more later. For now, I just wanted to say how saddened we are by the loss of a fellow apologist whose powerful messages changed tens of thousands that heard him.
Goodbye, my dear friend. I mourn your loss. I weep over a friendship that was so short. You taught me so much. You often asked me after a message, “Uncle, how did I do?” My delight was great. Greater will be your delight now as you ask your Lord and your God, “Father, how did I do?” You will hear the divine accolade: “Well done, my child.”
I love you, Nabeel. You will remain forever in my heart.
See you soon, beloved friend.
